Job Title:

Special Education Teacher

Job Duties:

Responsible for teaching core subjects to special education students at the secondary school level, using effective teaching methods including lectures, demonstrations, audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations.  Work with school principal, administration and teacher committees to improve curriculum and teaching methods.  Prepare course objectives and lesson plans following curriculum guidelines.  Prepare modified lessons based on the goals of each student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP); make modifications to teaching plans for special education students that are mainstreamed in the general curriculum environment; assign lessons, correct homework and administer tests to evaluate pupil progress, record the results and issue reports to inform parents;  keep attendance records; maintain discipline in the classroom; meet with parents to discuss student progress and problems; participate in faculty and professional meetings, and performing related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities of student organizations.

 

Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Eligibility for North Dakota teacher licensure is also required.

HELP WANTED:  The New Town Public School District #1 is presently accepting applications for the following positions for the 2024-2025 school year.  

School District:  Bus Drivers (2 positions)

Edwin Loe Elementary School:  Kindergarten Aide (7 hrs. per day); 4 Special Education Aides (7 to 7.5 hours per day); Night Custodian (8 hours per day)

New Town Middle School: 2 Special Education Aides (7 to 7.5 hours per day);

New Town High School:  Special Education Aide (7 to 7.5 hours per day); In School Suspension Monitor (7 hours per day); Night Custodian (8 hours per day)

The positions are open until filled.  Starting salary is $20 per hour.  It includes a single policy health insurance plan through ND Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Veteran Preference applies in hiring.  Applicants must have at a minimum a high school diploma or GED.  The successful applicants must pass a background check through the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigations.  Applications can be picked up at the school district business office.  Interested persons should submit a completed application and/or a resume of related experience to Dr. Anthony Vandal, Superintendent, P.O.
