If your child has missed any school, they should keep on top of their attendance early and make up the hours. In addition, they should come in and use this time to complete missing assignments and stay on top of their grades now so they aren't struggling at the end of the semester. There is tutoring available M-F during lunch and after school M-Th. If you have any questions, please contact the high school office. Please check your child's PowerSchool today so that we can work together to keep them on track.

New Town Public School District #1
Notice to Community
Cell Phone Policy Implementation
Dear Parents, Students, and Stakeholders,
This policy isn’t meant to upset anyone, it is actually designed to increase safety by limiting bullying and harassment among students and interferes with learning in the classroom. The district recognizes the importance of balancing the benefits of technology with the need for a focused and distraction-free learning environment.
We have tried allowing students to use their phones responsibly in the past, but unfortunately, many continue to use them in class.
We have ordered pouches for each phone and other electronics. While we wait for the pouches to arrive, students can also store their phones in the offices. If students prefer, they can leave their phones and other technology at home until the pouches are available.
We are confident that implementing this “NO CELL PHONE POLICY” will benefit everyone involved. Many other schools have found similar policies to be successful, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have on our school district. In fact, other school districts on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation are implementing a similar policy as well.
Sincerely,
Marc S. Bluestone Sr.
Superintendent
Updated 8.14.24 ...We apologize for all of the changes.
Welcome back! School starts on Thursday, August 15th.
The elementary school is currently in a construction zone. Attached is the map that we want our families to follow for drop off and pick up. Second avenue will become a one-way for this time period. Parents will need to come east on Eagle Drive and turn left onto Second Avenue in the mornings. They can drop their student off in front of the school. This will be the same for pick up. The busses will come east down Eagle Drive and drop off in the morning. After school, they will come east down Eagle Drive and turn right into the bus drive for pick up. The red arrows on the map show the direction of all traffic.
Please be aware that this map can change as the construction changes. It's a mess and we sincerely apologize. Please be patient with us each day and make the beginning of school a success!
Good afternoon. This is a friendly reminder that the MS/HS Open House will be this evening from 4 pm to 7 pm at the middle school and high school building. The teachers are here ready to meet you and to prepare you and your child for an amazing year! A meal will be served.

Middle school can be a time of big changes, both in and out of the classroom. Our curriculum is designed to be engaging and challenging, helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Plus, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities to help them explore their interests and talents.
Communication is super important, and we want to stay connected with you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers, our school counselors, or the administration with any questions or concerns. We’ll also keep you updated through our school’s newsletter, website, and social media channels about important events and announcements.
We can’t wait to meet you at our upcoming Open House on August 13th from 4 to 7pm. It’ll be a great chance to tour the school, meet the teachers, and learn more about what we have planned for the year. Your involvement and support mean a lot to us, and we’re excited to partner with you in your child’s educational journey.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education. Let’s make this year a fantastic one filled with growth, learning, and success.

As principal, it is my pleasure to welcome you back for another year of excellent educational opportunities at New Town High School.
Please allow me to briefly introduce myself. My name is Dr. Robert C. Smith. I was adopted into the Crow Tribe of Indians of Montana 13 years ago. My wife, Linda Smith, and our three, adult children are enrolled in the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma. Linda and I have lived or served on the following Indian reservations: Northern Cheyenne, Crow, Fort Belknap, Makah, Rocky Boy, Fort Peck, and Cherokee. My eldest son is completing his Master’s Degree in Health Administration. My middle daughter has attended Dickinson State University and Montana University Billings; she has not decided on her career path. My youngest son is a nationally board certified, Internal Medicine Physician. He serves Native Indian Health Service patients in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
High School classes begin on August 15, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. All high school students will report directly to the high school gymnasium at this time. Regular school hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.; unless otherwise designated for early out days.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you, and I encourage you to the greatest extent possible to place a high value on quality education. Ensuring regular attendance, communicating closely with instructional and administrative staff, supporting your student in their academic and extra-curricular activities, and celebrating in their successes and triumphs are great ways to express value for quality education.
Let’s make this the very best year for your student and family.
Cordially,
Dr. Robert C. Smith, High School Principal
