Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to some and welcome back to others. We're so excited to start this new school year with your child as they begin their middle school journey. This is a big time filled with lots of learning and new experiences, and we're here to make sure it's a great one.
At New Town Middle School, we believe working together is key to helping our students succeed. We're here to support your child and to make sure they have a positive and enriching experience. Our awesome team of teachers is ready to guide and encourage them every step of the way.
Middle school can be a time of big changes, both in and out of the classroom. Our curriculum is designed to be engaging and challenging, helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Plus, we offer a variety of extracurricular activities to help them explore their interests and talents.
Communication is super important, and we want to stay connected with you. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers, our school counselor, or the administration with any questions or concerns. We’ll also keep you updated through our school’s newsletter, website, and social media channels about important events and announcements.
Along with this letter, you’ll find several important forms that need to be reviewed, signed, and returned to the school by August 22nd. These forms are crucial for keeping us up to date with your child and for following school policies. We really appreciate you taking the time to get these back to us promptly.
We can’t wait to meet you at our upcoming Open House on August 13th from 5 to 8pm. It’ll be a great chance to tour the school, meet the teachers, and learn more about what we have planned for the year. Your involvement and support mean a lot to us, and we’re excited to partner with you in your child’s educational journey.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education. Let’s make this year a fantastic one filled with growth, learning, and success.
Best regards,
Amy Dana

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NEW TOWN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 TAXPAYERS
JUNE 4, 2025 @ 6 PM
NEW TOWN HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA
The New Town Public School District is planning to hold a public hearing to consider increasing the property tax levy by 3%. This would increase the current mill levy from 46.03 to 47.41. The building levy mills would increase from 10.57 to 10.89. There will be an opportunity for citizens to present oral or written comments regarding the proposed increase. If the school district does not increase the mill levy (all schools need to be at the minimum of 60 mills), the state will continue to penalize the school district by reducing foundation aid funding. The school district is scheduled to lose $6,267,897.84 dollars of state foundation aid for the 2025-2026 school year due to the district not being at 60 mills already. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 6 pm in high school cafeteria.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our continued commitment to transparency, we’re providing an important update regarding the PowerSchool cybersecurity incident that occurred in December 2024.
PowerSchool has recently informed us that the individual(s) believed to be responsible for the incident have attempted to contact school districts in other states, pressuring recipients for payment using data obtained during the breach. If you receive a message of this nature, do not respond. Instead, please report it to us immediately.
We take this matter very seriously and continue to monitor the situation closely. PowerSchool is working with leading cybersecurity experts and law enforcement agencies in both the United States and Canada to thoroughly investigate and address the incident.
As a reminder, complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services are available for two years to those affected. This includes educators and current or former students from North Dakota school districts who may not have received the initial incident notification from PowerSchool.
To enroll in these services, please visit the following website by July 31, 2025: https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach
If you have additional questions, PowerSchool has established a dedicated support center. You can reach them at 833-918-9464, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central Time.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work to protect student and staff information.
Sincerely,
Corey Mock, Chief Information Officer
